Just started looking at Common Lisp. I am currently working through the Gentle Introduction with Emacs and Slime. I started out with CMUCL and Hemlock but there seemed to be a bug that stopped me from loading the spelling dictionary, then, when I swapped to using Stumpwm, I found the same bug was causing a problem with linux shell commands so I swapped to SBCL (though Stumpwm is running on a CLisp process, which seems, when stumpy crashes, to create a new instance of itself without killing the old one so I top command and find three or four Clisp processes bogging things down!?!).

It is all so very, very interesting. I'm sure I shall learn ooddles here.

The Gentle Introduction with Emacs and Slime is a great way to get started. You have to take a bit at a time. This can all get very overwhelming if you are not careful. I find that if I dive deep, then take a break, come back, I am much more energized about everything.
